Coby 8.9 inch netbook coming soon?

Electronics vendor Coby first began showing a line of netbooks at CES in January.dell laptop battery None of the company*s netbooks are available yet, but last month a 10 inch and 12 inch model started making the rounds on various web store pre-order pages. Now it looks like we can add an 8.9 inch model to the lineup.

Liliputing Forum member Lincoln Thurber spotted an 8.9 inch Coby netbook at electotronics.com, Dell Inspiron 640m Battery, Dell Y9943 Battery, Dell RC107 Battery where it carries a pre-order price of $282.43. The laptop, which has the easy to remember model number of NBPC892XPBLK is also listed at a handful of other stores, but electotronics has the lowest price. Of course, I*ve never heard of this store before, which makes me a little nervous, but Buy.com also has a placeholder web page for the netbook, so it looks like you*ll be able to pick it up from that store as well once the netbook is actually available.

Here*s a rundown of the machine*s specs:

Display: 8.9 inch, 1024 x 600 pixels
CPU: 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270
RAM: 1GB
Storage: 160GB HDD
OS: Windows XP Home
Connectivity: 802.11b/g WiFi, Ethernet
I/O: 3 USB ports, mic, headphone, nfl jerseys shop,Dell Inspiron 640m Battery, Dell Y9943 Battery, Dell RC107 Battery SD card reader
Webcam: 1.3MP
Battery: 2.5 hour, 2200mAh

The specs are pretty much par for the netbook course, but the price alone should make this netbook a reasonably attractive option. Dell Inspiron 640m Battery,The product image looks remarkably similar to the 10 inch Coby NBPC1022XPBLK. I*d think it was the same picture except that the 8.9 inch model seems to have a larger bezel around the display which suggests that both netbooks may have the same case even though one has a larger screen than the other.

The next generation of netbooks takes shape

One of the rare success stories of a tough 2009 in tech, the netbook is set to get an overhaul courtesy of Intel*s Pine Trail technology. Intel released Pine Trail earlier this week, and a few computer makers have announced new netbooks based on it. dell laptop battery The rest will surface at the Consumer Electronics Show in early January. Here*s what to expect from these new netbooks.

Pine Trail is a platform, not a processor, and the details of this new platform have been known since at least May 2009 when Intel held what it termed a ※disclosure§ (PDF here). It consists of a Pineview processor, which includes both a 45nm CPU with integrated memory controller and a 45nm GPU, the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3150, in a single package. Though Intel pairs this with an NM10 Express ※chipset,§Dell Latitude D620 Battery, Dell 312-0386 Battery, Dell PC764 Battery, it*s really just one chip (Tiger Point), which functions as a southbridge for I/O. In effect, Intel has shifted from a three-chip solution, such as the Atom N280 with the 945GSE chipset (consisting of a graphics/memory controller and a separate I/O controller hub) to a two-chip solution. Pineview is Intel*s first CPU with integrated graphics, though it will be quickly overshadowed by the launch of the 32nm Arrandale laptop and Clarkdale desktop chips with the same level of integration, which will arrive in a matter of weeks. The advantages of this integration are obvious: it costs less to manufacture, takes up less space and requires less power. (It is also the crux of the escalating legal battle between Intel and Nvidia, which makes its own GPUs and chipsets for Intel-based PCs.)

Intel released three Pineview processors. The 1.66GHz Atom N450 is a single-core processor (two threads) that supports up to 2GB of 667MHz DDR2 memory. The current Atom platform uses slower main memory. The Atom D410 and D510 are both for entry-level desktops (Intel has apparently given up on the term nettops) and run at the same 1.66GHz. The difference is that the D410 has one core and two threads, while the D510 is a dual-core Atom capable of processing four threads simultaneously. Dell Latitude D620 Battery, Both the D410 and D510 support up to 2GB of either 667MHz of 800MHz DDR2 memory (though most coverage has focused on the N450 and new netbooks, PCMag.com tested a whitebox using the D510).

Intel says that there are more than 80 Pine Trail netbooks and entry-level desktops in the works from Asus, Acer, Dell, Toshiba, Fujitsu, Lenovo, Samsung and MSI. Asus was first of the mark, and several sites have posted reviews of the Eee PC 1005PE (links to reviews below). This upgrade has the same basic design as the popular 10-inch Eee PC 1005HA, but with the Atom N450. The Eee PC 1005PE starts at $379 with 1GB of memory, a 250GB hard drive and Windows 7 Starter. Dell announced an update to its Mini 10. The Pine Trail version will start at $299 with Ubuntu Linux (1GB and 160GB hard drive) and $399 with Windows 7. The design is also different每this version is smaller and lighter with a battery that doesn*t jut from the back每and, unlike the Eee PC 1005PE, it will offer an optional, higher resolution (1366 by 768 pixels) display. Fujitsu also announced its Lifebook MH380 Mini-Notebook (Atom N450, 1GB, 250GB hard drive and Windows 7 Starter for $449), and there are rumors of Pine Trail netbooks from HP and Lenovo (which I*m sure we*ll hear about at CES in early January,Dell Latitude D620 Battery, Dell 312-0386 Battery, Dell PC764 Battery, if not sooner). Though Intel is still pushing Moblin, the vast majority of these Pine Trail netbooks will come with Windows 7.

Though there was a lot of talk about Pine Trail giving a boost to netbook performance, and in particular playback of high-quality video, the gains here look pretty modest. That*s not terribly surprising since Intel essentially shifted from the Atom N280, a single-core processor (two threads) running at 1.66GHz to the Atom N450,Dell 312-0386 Battery, also a single-core processor (with two threads) running at the same frequency. Intel says the new graphics core is up to the task of playing 720p video, and that generally seems to be the case though some reviewers had better luck with YouTube HD clips than others. Where Pine Trail really stands out, however, is battery life. With a 6-cell battery, the Eee PC 1005PE was good for anywhere from 8 hours on torture tests to more than 10 hours under typical usage. That*s a compelling reason for owning a netbook.

Since Pine Trail doesn*t change much in terms of performance, the door is open a bit for other chipmakers to come up with ways to speed up netbooks. Intel has been working with Broadcom on a single video decoder chip, the BCM70015 Crystal HD, which will be an option for some netbooks to enhance performance with high-definition video. Meanwhile Nvidia looks set to release a new version of its ION chipset, which will not only bring 1080p video support, but also Blu-ray playback and better gaming performance. Intel execs say this is overkill for netbooks, but Nvidia believes there*s real demand for better performance in this class. At the opposite extreme, I also expect to see lots of smartbook designs using less powerful chips from Freescale, Nvidia (Tegra) and Qualcomm at CES.

This is the time of year for tech predictions, and there is no shortage of netbook prognosticators. Some pundits predict that the fad is over, and netbooks are set to cool off. Others suggest that Intel*s new platform could spark a second wave of rapid growth. My guess is the truth is somewhere in between and netbook unit sales will continue to grow at a decent pace. The new models may be slightly larger than current ones, and laptops using ultra low-voltage (ULV) chips will almost certainly siphon off some sales.Dell PC764 Battery, But ultimately it doesn*t really matter whether you call them netbooks or notebooks. There will continue to be strong demand for highly-mobile computing at lower prices.
Some of the larger laptops are now offering quad-core processors, but most users will be better off with a fast dual-core processor combined with more memory. You may notice that many laptops come with a new type of system memory, DRR3, which is faster and uses less power than DDR2 memory. Most laptops use an Intel chipset with integrated graphics (Arrandale will actually put graphics processor in the same physical package with the CPU) and this has advantages in terms of battery life. But it can*t match either the integrated or discrete graphics from AMD or Nvidia in terms of performance.Dell Latitude D620 Battery, Dell 312-0386 Battery, Dell PC764 Battery, More computer makers are offering solid-state disks in lieu of standard hard drives, but this market has yet to materialize largely because NAND flash remains too costly, though performance has been an issue as well. Microsoft designed Windows 7 to take better advantages of SSDs, so as the price comes down, we may see some pick-up in 2011. But for now, you can ignore them.

Finally several PC makers have started dropping internal optical drives from some larger laptops with displays of 13, 14 or even 15-plus inches to make them thinner and lighter. This is largely a matter of personal preference, depending on how much you travel, and whether you are accustomed to downloading all of your applications and content. Many entertainment notebooks have optional Blu-ray players or burners.

Why "good enough" simply isn't with laptops

This weekend The New York Times published its annual catalog of the Year in Ideas. One of them, dell laptop battery Good Enough is the New Great, is a concept derived from a story in the August issue of Wired (The Good Enough Revolution), which noted that some of the most successful gadgets and applications of late are a triumph of mediocre technology over the latest and greatest.

The Flip*s success stunned the industry, but it shouldn*t have. It*s just the latest triumph of what might be called Good Enough tech. Cheap, fast, simple tools are suddenly everywhere. We get our breaking news from blogs, we make spotty long-distance calls on Skype, we watch video on small computer screens rather than TVs, and more and more of us are carrying around dinky, low-power netbook computers that are just good enough to meet our surfing and emailing needs. The low end has never been riding higher.

Lately I*ve been thinking a lot about this concept of good-enough computing. The success of netbooks in 2009 seems like an obvious example of good over great, but I*m not convinced that is what the netbook phenomenon is really all about. Dell TD175 Battery, Dell Latitude D820 Battery, Dell Latitude D830 Battery,I think it has a lot more to do with demand for highly mobile computing at an affordable price. No sooner had netbooks hit the big-time then chipmakers began trying to address performance shortcomings such as the inability to play HD video. AMD*s ultra-thin platform (formerly known as Congo), Nvidia*s Ion chipset and Intel*s upcoming Pine Trail platform are all designed to boost performance of netbooks.

In general, I think there*s still room for significant improvement in performance and battery life of laptops. It*s true that the typical $600 mainstream laptop on the shelf at Best Buy can handle most tasks. And there*s more choice than ever in terms of size and weight, price, and performance. But if you think about it, we*re still far from having it all in one laptop. Dell TD175 Battery, Netbooks and thin-and-lights based on ultra low-voltage chips are highly portable, and have excellent battery life, at the expense of performance. Budget and mainstream laptops are priced right and have decent performance, but they are too bulky and battery life is poor. If you really want the best performance, you can choose notebook with an Intel Core i7 quad-core (Clarksfield) processor, but these are generally available only in expensive 17-inch desktop replacements that are marginally portable and designed largely for gamers. (Yes, Dell*s 15-inch Alienware M15x also comes with Core i7, but it weighs in at more than 10 pounds.)

HP deserves credit for trying to build a laptop that has it all, but the Envy 15 illustrates just how hard impossible this is to do using current technology. The Envy 15 is reasonably portable, measuring one inch thick and weighing 5.4 pounds, and it has a Core i7 quad-core processor and a 1920℅1080 15.6-inch display. But all that comes at a price. The Envy 15 starts at $1,800 with a 1.60GHz Core i7-720QM, 6GB of memory, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4830 graphics and a 500GB hard drive. The Envy 15 is also one of the few 15.6-inch laptops you*ll find that doesn*t include an internal optical drive to keep the size and weight down. And while performance was extremely good on CNET*s tests, battery life was not. Numerous other reviews noted that the Envy 15 runs so hot that it is actually ※uncomfortable to use.§

The near-term roadmap doesn*t offer much hope for closing this gap. Dell TD175 Battery, Dell Latitude D820 Battery, Dell Latitude D830 Battery, In early 2010, Intel will release its first 32nm Westmere processors, including Arrandale for laptops and Clarkdale for desktops, but these will be designed for mainstream laptops, where the bulk of the sales are. In addition, these processors will include Intel*s integrated graphics on the same chip for the first time.Dell Latitude D820 Battery, This will simplify system design, and should help lower prices, but unless Intel has made huge strides in the performance of its integrated graphics, these Arrandale-based laptops won*t satisfy power-users. Of course, the 32nm chips can also be paired with discrete graphics, and later in the year we should get faster Westmere chips that come a bit closer to Clarksfield. AMD will release its first laptop platform (Danube) with a quad-core processor in the first half of next year, but like Clarksfield, AMD*s 45nm chip is likely to be too big and hot for anything but desktop replacements. Meanwhile AMD*s next ultra-thin platform, Geneva, and the Fusion chip with an integrated GPU that arrives in 2011, are targeted at the mainstream, and not the performance segment. The bottom line: Don*t look for a thin 13.3-inch laptop that offers Core i7-level performance and solid battery life anytime soon.

Last week, I attended a semiconductor conference where chipmakers discussed their latest technology. There was a lot of talk at the show about a coming slowdown in the pace of innovation. Each new generation of process technology is tougher and more costly than the last, the argument goes, so does it really make sense to stay on this treadmill? But Intel execs每who noted (repeatedly) that the company has already shipped more than 200 million processors using high-k and metal gate technology while the rest of the industry is still figuring it out, and is already manufacturing 32nm chips in two factories每said they have no plans to let up. That*s good news because today*s laptop technology isn*t anywhere near good enough.
This year the laptop list was a tough assignment for several reasons.

First, the emergence of a new class of ultra-thin laptops每spawned by lower-cost processors from Intel and AMD每has made things more complicated. Second, there*s a fresh crop of Windows 7 laptops, and very few of them have received full reviews. Finally,Dell Latitude D830 Battery, Intel is preparing to release its first 32nm processor families, Arrandale for laptops and Clarksdale for desktops, early next year, and this is likely to really shake things up.

The good news is that there*s more choice than ever at all prices ranges. The bad news is that it*s becoming very tough to choose. Here are some guidelines.

Not long ago, the laptop market was relatively straightforward. The so-called mainstream systems with 15-inch displays were the least expensive (and most commonplace) and everything smaller (thin-and-lights and ultraportables) and larger (desktop replacements) cost more每often a lot more. Today mainstream models with 15.6-inch displays still tend to be the cheapest (not counting netbooks). Dell TD175 Battery, Dell Latitude D820 Battery, Dell Latitude D830 Battery, These will typically cost anywhere from $300 to $550, though you can easily spend more depending on the configuration. The difference is that smaller, and more portable, laptops are closing the price gap. Sure, you can still spend $2,000 or more on an ※executive-class§ ultraportable if you really want, but now there are many low-cost ultra-thin alternatives. These typically have displays ranging in size from 11.6 to 13.3 inches, and start at around $600. At the opposite extreme are desktop replacement laptops with 17.3-inch, or in some cases even 18.4-inch, displays. These are more expensive than mainstream systems, are typically toward entertainment or gaming applications, and are only marginally portable.

what constitutes the right to charge laptop battery?(share)

We love machine exactly how lithium batteries and maintenance will be right?

This problem has plagued many loyal users of laptop computers, dell laptop battery including me.

In checking some of the information, recently had the opportunity to consult a professional in an electrochemical Ph.D. and a well-known domestic battery, deputy director of the Institute. Now a number of recently acquired knowledge and experience in writing, to satisfy the reader of you. ﹛﹛

Lithium-ion battery cathode material of lithium active compounds are usually composed of negative electrode is a special molecular structure of carbon. Common cathode material for the major components ofLiCoO2, Charging time, added to the battery positive pole of the electric potential to force release of lithium-ion compounds, embedded negative elements arranged in lamellar structure of the carbon. Discharge, lithium-ion from the lamellar structure of carbon precipitation and re-cathode combination of compounds. Lithium-ion movement generated a current. ﹛﹛

Although the chemical reaction principle is very simple, but in the actual industrial production, the practical problems need to be considered much more: the cathode material additives required to maintain the multiple charge-discharge activity, the negative electrode material, which needs to design the molecular structure of class to accommodate more lithium-ion; fill in the electrolyte between the positive and negative electrodes, in addition to maintaining stability, but also need to have good electrical conductivity, reducing the battery internal resistance. ﹛﹛

Although the lithium-ion batteries little nickel-cadmium battery memory effect,Dell G5266 Battery Dell Latitude CPi Battery, Dell Inspiron 8200 Battery, memory effect of the principle is that crystallization, in the lithium batteries will have little reaction. However, lithium-ion battery capacity after repeated charge-discharge will continue to decline, its causes are complex and diverse. Dell G5266 Battery Is mainly positive and negative changes in the material itself, from the molecular level, the positive and negative electrodes of lithium ion on the hole to accommodate the structure will gradually collapse, plug; from the chemical point of view, is the active anode material is passive, there's the other side to form a stable compounds. Physics will appear on the cathode material gradually falling off, etc., in short, can ultimately reduce the battery charging and discharging process of the free movement of the number of lithium-ion. ﹛﹛

Over-charging and over-discharge, lithium-ion batteries will be positive and negative result in permanent damage, from the molecular level, intuitive understanding, excessive discharge of carbon anode will lead to excessive release of lithium-ion and makes it appear lamellar structure collapsed, over - Rechargeable lithium-ion will too hard go into the negative carbon structure, causing some of the lithium-ion can no longer be released. This is why lithium-ion batteries are usually equipped with charge-discharge control circuit causes. ﹛﹛

Not suitable for the temperature, will lead to lithium-ion battery inside the reaction of other chemical compounds that we do not want to see, so many of the lithium-ion batteries are being set up between the protective negative temperature-controlled diaphragm or electrolyte additives. In the battery temperature to a certain case, the composite membrane electrolyte membrane hole closed or degeneration, increased battery internal resistance until the circuit, the battery is no longer to heat up, to ensure that the battery charging temperature is normal. ﹛﹛

And deep charge-discharge lithium-ion batteries can improve the actual capacity?

Experts clearly told me that this is meaningless.Dell Latitude CPi Battery, They even said that the so-called three full charge-discharge prior to use of "activation" in the knowledge of both of them, Dr. Lane, do not understand this as a need. Why do so many people, however, Dell G5266 Battery Dell Latitude CPi Battery, Dell Inspiron 8200 Battery, after the deep charge-dischargeBattery InformationLane marked capacity would change it? Will be mentioned later. ﹛﹛

Notebook computer lithium-ion batteries are generally with the management of chip and charge control chips. Which management chip in a series of registers, there is capacity, temperature,ID, Charge status, discharge frequency values. These values are in use will gradually change. I personally believe that the instructions for use in notebook computers in the "Use a month should put a full-charge" approach to a major role should be is to fix these registers where the wrong value, making the battery charge control and the nominal capacity of the battery match the actual situation. ﹛﹛

Charge control the main control chip, the battery charging process. Lithium-ion battery charging process is divided into two phases, constant-current fast charge phase (when the battery indicator light yellow) and the constant-voltage current decreasing phase(The battery indicator light flashes green. Constant-current fast-charge stage, the battery voltage gradually rises to the standard battery voltage, and then transferred to constant pressure in the control phase of the next chip, the voltage will not rise in order to ensure that no over-charge, current battery, along with the gradual weakening of the increase in to0And finally completed charging. ﹛﹛

Statistics chip power consumption by recording the discharge curve (voltage, current, time) can calculate the sample battery power, which is what we in theBattery InformationRead insidewh.Value. The lithium-ion batteries in repeated use, the discharge curve will change, if the chip has not been opportunity to once again read out a complete discharge curve, which is calculated out of electricity that is not accurate. So we need to deep charge-discharge to calibrate the battery chips. ﹛﹛

Finally, I right battery maintenance view is: ﹛﹛

1. No need to ensure that every time a re-release END electric charge; ﹛﹛

2. A period of time to do a protection circuit under the control of deep charge-discharge the battery power to amend the statistics,Dell Inspiron 8200 Battery, but it will not improve your battery's actual capacity.

3. A long-term unused batteries, should be placed in the shade in order to weaken its internal self-passivation reaction speed. ﹛﹛

4. Protection circuit is also able to monitor the battery self-discharge,Dell G5266 Battery Dell Latitude CPi Battery, Dell Inspiron 8200 Battery, long-term without the battery should be charging to a certain degree of power to prevent self-discharge of batteries in storage in the discharge of excessive lead to excessive damage. ﹛﹛

In fact, there is not much to take into account the battery use of attention, in other words is taken into account is not much use. The number of times a cell can use, and perhaps more from the battery itself, differences in the manufacture of individual differences, rather than use. Choose a good reputation of the notebook PC brand, is undoubtedly the future long-life battery one of the guarantees.

Lithium battery charging on some of the misunderstandings

1Lithium-ion batteries and nickel battery completely different.dell laptop battery As long as your convenience, you can at any time for the lithium-ion battery charging, we did not like the nickel-based batteries, in order to maximize its performance, it must be fully discharged before charging and must be filled. And nickel battery charge time is too long, if the battery inside the liquid crystals will prevent you full power, but also can not completely discharge the vicious consequences. Misinformation about the life of lithium: Dell 310-6322 Battery, Dell D5318 Battery, Dell G5260 Battery, Lithium electric charge can only be 300-500 times, after to be replaced.
Correct to say: Lithium electric charge cycle life and the completion of the number of relevant, and the number of charge cycles is not directly related.
A charge cycle means that the battery power from the full use of all air, and then by air charge to the full process. This is not equivalent to recharge a battery. You can do multiple charge to complete the cycle. For example: you are using, the first charge of 40%, with a period of time and later filled by 20%, the next and later used a 30% charge, and then in the next 20 %..... 20% of the half-way, or just to add the power of 10%, because 40% +20% +30% +10% = 100%, a total accumulated a charge cycle (this charge cycle, you are charged with 4 completed), followed by the next cycle.
Again, a lithium battery on the first day only half of the electricity, and then it is fully charged. If the next day also so, that is, with half of the charge, a total of two charge down, this can only be counted as one charge cycle, rather than two. So it is usually possible to go through several times to complete one cycle of charge. Each complete a charge cycle, power consumption will be reduced a little. However, the reduction in amplitude is very small, high-quality battery charge cycle many times, will still retain 80% of the original capacity, a lot of lithium-powered products, after two or three years still remain in force, that is for this reason. Of course, life of lithium to be replaced eventually. The life of lithium is generally a charge cycle 300-500. Suppose a complete discharge of electricity available for the Q, if not consider each charge cycle after the reduction of electricity consumption, then the life of lithium in its offer, or a total of 300Q-500Q for additional power (and you have quite a 300-500 full amount of battery power, and you add the number of times the battery has nothing to do). If I have to use to indicate the number of charge cycles until you understand, It can be for example: each with 1 / 2 on the charge, you can charge 600-1000 times; if each with 1 / 3 on the charge, you can charge at 900-1500 .Dell 310-6322 Battery, And so, if the random charging, the indefinite number of times. In short, no matter how filled, a total of 300Q-500Q added into the electricity that is constant. Therefore, we can also interpret it this way: Lithium battery life and battery power on the total charge, and the number of unrelated charge. Release of deep and shallow depth charge put sufficient light for the life of the impact of lithium or less. In fact, light put sufficient light is more beneficial for the lithium battery, and only in the product for Lithium-Ion battery power supply module to do the calibration, the only deep deep release charge of the necessary. Therefore, the use of lithium-powered products do not have to rigidly adhere to the process, all to facilitate the first, charging at any time without fear of affecting life span. Dell 310-6322 Battery, Dell D5318 Battery, Dell G5260 Battery,In this light, we use the USB data cable at any time to do shallow charge, not only for the battery harmless, but beneficial to the.
Lithium batteries really negative, we may Daoshi overlooked:
If the above specified operating temperature, ie above 35 ∼ C environment, the use of lithium electricity, battery power will continue to decrease, that is, the battery power will not take as long as usual. If such a temperature, but also for the device charging, it will be more damage to the battery. Even in a relatively hot environment, storage batteries, the battery will be the inevitable result of the quality of the corresponding damage. So, try to keep in proper operating temperature is beneficial to extend the life of lithium a good way. If the low-temperature environment, namely 4 ∼ C following the use of lithium, the same will find the battery usage time decrease, and some mobile phones Yuanzhuanglidian the environment even at low temperatures can not be recharged electricity. But do not worry too much, this is a temporary situation, is different from the use of high-temperature environment, once the temperature rose up, the battery in the molecular heat, immediately revert to a previous charge. To play the largest lithium-ion battery performance, often need to use it, so that the electronic lithium battery is always in flux. If you do not often use lithium electricity, be sure to remember that a month to complete a charge cycle, lithium, do a power calibration, that is, the deep dark place on one charge.

Rechargeable zinc-air battery market next year, want to replace lithium batteries

Small mobile phone MP3, large electric vehicles, how to make safer, longer life, charge cycles more rechargeable batteries has been a key technical problems. We use lithium-ion battery technology for many years there are many obvious shortcomings, such as power degradation of fast, short life, environmental damage and so on, Dell D5318 Battery has repeatedly appeared lithium batteries overheating, explosion accidents have also still makes a lingering fear.Is expected to replace lithium batteries in a variety of technology among the recent advent of a new force has emerged: zinc-air rechargeable battery. In fact, zinc-air battery technology has been invented over a hundred years of history, the use of activated carbon adsorption of oxygen in the air as the positive active material, zinc as the anode, to ammonium chloride or caustic soda solution as the electrolyte .20 century, the sixties brought about due to space engineering technical improvements, zinc-air battery has begun to enter the practical application. Today, many hearing aid used in button batteries, in fact, zinc-air battery.

As the zinc-air battery structural constraints, has long been unable to achieve the recycling of rechargeable battery technology. Over the last few years, the Norwegian SINTEF research institutions through improved zinc electrode and the internal humidity control to achieve a zinc-air battery charging technology. The current rechargeable zinc-air battery has been achieved in the experiment more than 100 charge-discharge cycle life expectancy to reach 200 times. compared to lithium batteries, zinc-air rechargeable batteries is its storage capacity three times the cost of lithium batteries by half, Dell 310-6322 Battery, Dell D5318 Battery, Dell G5260 Battery, and that no security risk overheating the explosion.

SINTEF was established in Switzerland in charge of ReVolt's zinc-air rechargeable battery product development and marketing. The company said for the hearing aids, miniature zinc-air rechargeable battery will begin selling next year, Dell G5260 Battery, can be used for mobile phones and other mobile devices, zinc-air rechargeable the battery will be introduced later. to the public, its charge-discharge life expectancy should reach 300 to 500 times.

In addition, by drawing on the fuel cell structure, ReVolt said that the future of zinc-air rechargeable batteries used in electric vehicles will also be among the charge-discharge life of more than 10,000 times, but this technology is still very far away from practical distance.

Lithium battery knowledge and skills

If you want to prolong the battery's effective use of time, dell laptop battery in addition to the quality of the charger should have guarantees,The correct charging techniquesIs also essential:

1. The battery factory, manufacturers have carried out active treatment, and conduct a pre-charging, the batteries have more than electricity, a friend of mine said that the battery charge in accordance with the time period of adjustment, standby is still a serious shortage, if the battery is indeed the genuine battery, then this case adjustment period should be extended to 3-5 times and then fully charge and discharge.

2. If you buy a new cell phone battery is a lithium-ion, then 3-5 times before the charge commonly referred to as an adjustment period, more than 14 hours should be sufficient to ensure the full activation of the lithium-ion activity. Lithium-ion battery without memory effect, but a strong inert, should be given to fully activated in order to guarantee that used to achieve the best performance.

3. Some automated intelligent rapid charger when the lights change direction, dell laptop battery Dell Inspiron 6000 Battery, Dell Inspiron 9300 Battery, Dell Inspiron 9400 Battery, Dell 310-6321 Battery, only that was full of 90%. Charger will automatically change with the slow charging the battery is full. Is best used after the battery is full, otherwise it will shorten the usage time.

4. Before charging, lithium batteries do not need special discharge, discharge improper battery will be damaged. Charging as far as possible in order to slow Chong Chongdian to reduce the fast charge mode; time should not exceed 24 hours. After three to five times the battery fully charge and discharge cycles of its internal chemicals will be all "activation" to achieve best results.

5. Please use the original or the reputation of a good brand of chargers, lithium batteries use lithium battery charger dedicated, Dell Inspiron 6000 Battery, and follow the instructions, otherwise it will damage the battery or even dangerous.

6. The battery life determined by the number of repeated charge and discharge, it should try to avoid battery power than when charging, it will shorten the battery life. Phone off for more than 7 days, should be first mobile phone battery is fully discharged, adequate electricity and then use.

7. Mobile phone battery self-discharge exist, not when the nickel-metal hydride batteries a day by about 1% of the remaining capacity of discharge, lithium batteries a day by 0.2% -0.3% discharge. In charging the battery, try to use a dedicated outlet, do not share household electrical appliances such as charger and TV socket.

8. Although the mobile phone network coverage within the region, but the phone off when charging the phone is no longer acceptable and the call. At this point, you can use the phone's not connected to the transfer of functions transferred to the phone side of the fixed phone in order to prevent loss of calls, this method is not for the mobile phone network coverage in weak signal area, or is temporarily unable to connect when you apply.

9. Do not expose the battery in hot or cold, like a dog day, and not turning the phone on the car, to withstand the scorching sun exposure; or get air-conditioned room, on the air conditioning blowing straight places. When charging, the battery a little heat is normal, but can not be Jinshou high temperature "suffering."

10. If the mobile phone battery to place too long without use,Dell Inspiron 9300 Battery, it is best to phone the maintenance department to apply to the batteries for a living dealing with, you can own with a constant voltage DC device, adjusting the voltage 5-6V, current 500 ~ 600mA reverse battery connector .

11. The longer the charge when he is not good, for not protecting the circuit full battery charge should be stopped immediately, otherwise the battery overheating due to heat or impact performance.

12. Depth of discharge (Depth of discharge DOD)
In the battery process, the capacity of the battery release a percentage of its rated capacity, known as depth of discharge.
The level of depth of discharge and the secondary battery charge life has a deep relationship, when the secondary battery of the deeper depth of discharge, the charging shorter life expectancy, and therefore should try to avoid the use of depth of discharge.

HP cuts notebook prices in sales push

Hewlett-Packard is undertaking a major campaign on behalf of its notebook computers, Hp laptop battery today adding its entire lineup to a reseller sales incentive program while aggressively cutting prices nearly across the board.
With the exception of one model, OmniBook portables were reduced by as much as 15 percent, much needed for a company with a reputation for expensive products.

Having refined its product strategy over the past year, HP has been working to build up once moribund sales and is apparently beginning to see results. Second-quarter sales numbers are expected to show it has broken into the top ten of notebook vendors.

In the second half of the year HP will redouble its efforts, according to Greg Munster, director of product marketing for the company's mobile computing division.

"We're spending a lot of time just promoting our product, more than we've ever done before," he said.

One its current initiatives is the TopValue program for resellers, introduced for desktop systems earlier this year. Under this inventory-management scheme, resellers transfer electronic data to HP, providing the company with daily inventory volume and sales receipts. HP F3172A Battery, HP Pavilion ZT1000 Battery, HP Pavilion XZ200 Battery, HP in turn gives resellers product discounts to five percent.

Moving the entire notebook line into the program signals HP aims to further boost its sales volume, Munster said. The company has also put in place incentives for HP's own sales force, hoping OmniBooks will benefit from the company's more established corporate desktop and server presence.

Additionally, HP has bought ads in Businessweek and the Wall Street Journal as well as online.

Pricewise, the company won't necessarily be a market leader but will monitor trends closely and react quickly, HP F3172A Battery, Munster said. "Price is a really important differentiator right now. Our strategy is being really responsive, [which] may mean we're going to be competitive with IBM, for example, and be five percent underneath them."

Analysts have been expecting HP's volume push, according to International Data Corporation analyst Randy Guisto.

"We anticipated a major volume push in the first half of the year. We now expect it in the second half," he said. "Earlier we said that they could become a top ten vendor by Q4. [But] I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't pop up as a top ten vendor in the second quarter." April to June sales, although complete, are not yet tabulated.

Meanwhile, as it becomes a mainstream notebook vendor, HP may elect to develop its product strategy around the form factors other companies adopt. The company will likely begin to emphasize the slimline 4100, according to both Guisto and HP executives who have previously talked with CNET NEWS.COM.

A top-drawer 4100 with with a 266-MHz Pentium II chip, a 4.0GB had drive, and a 14.1-inch screen falls to $3,999. A 233-MHz version with a 13.3-inch screen now sells for $3,199.

This may spell the end of the road for the miniature OmniBook 800. The price of that 3.9 pound, 166-MHz Pentium MMX system was reduced a whopping 37 percent today, to $2,299.

Guisto, without commenting on HP's will to keep that model going,HP Pavilion ZT1000 Battery, said that sales for the OmniBook 800 have not been stellar. "It is time to get an update."

Elsewhere, the OmniBook 2100 with a 233-MHz Pentium MMX and a 12.1-inch dual-scan screen drops to $1,799. The upper-crust, .75-inch thick Sojourn comes down to $4,999.

Separately, Dell announced it has incorporated Intel's mobile Pentium II processors into its entire line of Inspiron notebooks. Inspirons target small and medium businesses and consumers looking for performance.
Weighing an amazing 15.5 pounds and sporting a desktop-sized 20-inch LCD, the HP Pavilion HDX is truly a laptop in name only. This semi-portable home theater system has a Media Center remote that docks right next to the full-size keyboard, an HDMI output, and an optional HD DVD drive.

We first got a glimpse of the massive HP Pavilion HDX system back at CES 2007 and have been eagerly waiting for a review unit ever since. HP F3172A Battery, HP Pavilion ZT1000 Battery, HP Pavilion XZ200 Battery, Some system highlights include:

20.1" WSXGA+ Ultra BrightView wide-screen display
Four Altec Lansing speakers plus a built-in HP Triple Bass Reflex subwoofer
Digital/Analog Hybrid TV Tuner
HD DVD drive and HDMI port
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600 XT (HP Pavilion XZ200 Battery, )
An eSATA port for hooking up external backup drives

HP: Thin will win notebook arena

It's thin to win for Hewlett-Packard.
The latest crop of thin and wide notebooks are going to become the mainstay in the portable market, Hp laptop battery forcing the more powerful, and more costly, desktop replacement models further to the fringe of the market, according to executives at HP.

Thin and wide designs typically pack a robust feature set into an extra-wide but thin design. This design is exemplified in the IBM Thinkpad 600, the Compaq Armada 6500, and the Hewlett-Packard 4100 series.

The push toward thin, in fact, is already happening at HP, said Marc Jourlait, director of worldwide product marketing for mobile products at HP, which released a new version of its slimline OmniBook 4100 today.

The 4100, introduced in April, already accounts for more than half of all of HP's notebook sales, he said. Today's new release, the OmniBook 4150, brings the fastest mobile chip from Intel, the 300-MHz Pentium II, to the 4100 line. So far, the 300-MHz chip has only been available on HP's more upscale, and bulky, 7150 OmniBook.

"A lot of corporate users are into their second or third generation of notebooks.HP Presario NX9010 Battery, HP Presario NX9000 Battery HP F2299A Battery, They don't want to carry around an 8 or 9 pound box," he said. "The 4100 has been the big seller in terms of units."

Technological advances in battery technology will further reduce notebook sizes, he said. Thinness will also start to come to the value line of notebooks in the near future, resulting in thinner value notebooks with 12-inch screens.

Compared to desktops, thin notebooks like the 4100 or IBM's ThinkPad 600 are neither short on features or cheap. HP Presario NX9010 Battery, Where these machines tend to shine, however, is in comparison to the big, bulky desktop replacement models that have often been upheld as paragons of portable computing. Slimline notebooks typically come with smaller hard drives and often fewer modular drive bays, according to Jourlait. In exchange, the overall notebook comes in at under 6 pounds.

The OmniBook 4150 notebook comes with a 300-MHz Pentium II, a 14.1-inch active matrix screen, a 6.4GB hard drive, a drive bay, a NeoMagic graphics chip, and 64MB of memory. It sells for $4,299. The OmniBook 7150, by contrast, comes with a 8GB hard drive and a more powerful graphics engine, among other features. It also weighs more.

While some vendors have experimented with expanding the footprint of the machines to accommodate 15-inch screens, Jourlait said that the next advances in form factor will come in further reducing notebook thickness.

One likely avenue for reducing thickness will come through the proliferation of prismatic lithium ion cells. Unlike current battery cells, which are cylinders, the prismatic cells are shaped like prisms. This means that they can be arranged in an interlocking pattern inside a notebook with very little wasted space, unlike cylinders, which sit together like logs. The height on some prismatic cells is also shorter than the diameter on cylindrical cells.

"You can fill almost every crevice with battery material," he said.HP Presario NX9000 Battery "The thickest element of a notebook today is the battery."

Case materials will also improve. A number of companies have released ultraslim notebooks with magnesium or carbon fiber cases, both of which are more sturdy than plastic and allow for thinner boxes. As the materials come down in price, they will proliferate across product lines.
The HDX meets the specs for Intel's revamped Santa Rosa platform, so it has a Centrino Duo sticker. Our preproduction unit also had a top-of-the-line T7700 Core 2 Duo CPU, 3GB of RAM, and dual 100GB hard drives.

(Credit: Hewlett-Packard)
Taking the HDX for a test drive, we loved the removable remote control and the touch-sensitive capacitive media controls. The trickiest part was the giant hinge connecting the screen to the rest of the system. The hinge is attached to the middle of the lid, allowing you to angle the display slightly. When closing the lid, you have to make sure the rear of the screen is pushed all the way back against the hinge,HP Presario NX9010 Battery, HP Presario NX9000 Battery HP F2299A Battery,or it'll hit up against the body of the system and potentially crack something. Opening the screen is equally tricky--if you lift from the top of the lid, as is common with laptops, the bottom of the screen will suddenly swing out when it has enough clearance, whacking against the bottom of the chassis. HP F2299A Battery, A little practice had us opening and closing the lid with ease, but those first few times were white-knuckle experiences.

(Credit: Hewlett-Packard)
The HDX probably won't ship until at least July, and it starts at $2,999. Fully loaded, it'll run closer to $4,500. If this oversized design looks slightly familiar, that's because you're probably thinking of the lap-busting Dell M2010, released around this time last year.

HP, Mitsubishi form notebook team

Hewlett-Packard (HWP) and Mitsubishi announced they will partner in producing a superlight notebook computer using Intel's new Tillamook microprocessor.
Alongside today's unveiling of the Tillamook,Hp laptop battery HP displayed a prototype weighing 3.1 pounds and measuring 18.4mm (less than three-quarters of an inch) in thickness--approximately the size of an airline tray-table.

Largely the same product will be marketed as the Mitsubishi Pediom in Japan, and as part of HP's OmniBook line in North America, said Mitsubishi's Takashi Gotoh, general manager of mobile computing.

Both 200-MHz and 233-MHz Tillamook processors will incorporated, but the Pediom/OmniBook model will not be available with the module version of the chip. The Tillamook module is a small circuit board that contains other companion chips as well as the microprocessor, meaning much of the main computer circuitry is part of one unit.

The Pediom/OmniBook will come with a base memory configuration of 32MB RAM and a 1GB hard drive.HP Presario 2100 Battery(compaq 2100 Battery), HP Presario 2500 Battery(compaq 2500 battery), Mitshubishi will provide the keyboard and battery components and LCD display technology, while HP will lend its notebook system know-how.

Company officials are also touting its magnesium case, which is harder than standard plastic shells. Consumers worry that ultraslim notebooks are none too sturdy, according to HP product marketing manager Taia Erguleta.

The Pediom will be available in Japan beginning October 1HP 319411-001 Battery, , priced at 598,000 yen (approximately $4,900) for the 200-MHz version and 798,000 yen ($6,600) for the 233-MHz version. It will be available in North America after Comdex in November. HP's OmniBook, not yet assigned a series number, will be available in the first quarter of 1998.

Both Mitsubishi and HP are currently active in the notebook market. In June, Mitshbishi showed off a Pentium-based ultraportable called Amity CN weighing 2.2 pounds. HP has been working hard to shore up its notebook division, moving the division's headquarters to the San Francisco Bay area from Oregon in January and also introducing several new models in the OmniBook series.

Hewlett-Packard weathered a tough retail market to become the top notebook seller in October.
Notebook sales at U.S. retail stores fell 9 percent in the month compared with October 2000 levels, according to new figures from research firm NPD Intelect.

HP jumps ahead in notebook race
In claiming the top spot, HP increased, by 2 percent, its market share to 28 percent. In September, the Palo Alto, Calif.-based company held 26 percent of the market, the No. 2 position behind Compaq Computer, which had 32 percent of the market.

Sony was close behind HP in October with 26 percent of the market, up from 17 percent in September. Compaq fell to No. 3 with 21 percent.

October was a key month for retail computer sales, with manufacturers moving to models containing Microsoft's new Windows XP operating system. HP benefited by making the transition to Windows XP more quickly with its notebooks than Compaq, according to NPD.

"Their products were out there for a couple of weeks before Compaq got its out," said Stephen Baker, an analyst with NPD. HP Presario 2100 Battery "In a category like this...it's important to be right all the time because if you're wrong for a week, it carries over...and makes it tough to recover."

Compaq continued to hold the No. 1 market share spot for the entire year period. The Houston-based company has so far sold 32 percent of retail notebook PCs. HP, meanwhile, has sold 23 percent of retail notebooks so far this year, according to NPD.

Retail sources suggest that November notebook sales were particularly strong, driven by lower pricing. As a result, November will be a real horse race between HP and Compaq for the top sales spot, the sources said.

Based on early information about retail sales during November's Thanksgiving week,HP Presario 2100 Battery(compaq 2100 Battery), HP Presario 2500 Battery(compaq 2500 battery), published earlier this month, notebooks were much more popular than desktop PCs, most likely because of aggressive pricing.

The average selling prices for notebooks have dropped precipitously from 2000 levels because of falling component costs. NPD said the average selling price for retail notebooks dropped from $1,715 in October 2000 to $1,509 this past October.

HP notebooks have gained footing since the debut of its Pavilion systems in late 1999.

None of the top computer makers, including Compaq, Sony or Toshiba, should be written off, HP Presario 2500 Battery NPD's Baker said. Toshiba, for example, has become more aggressive, with pricing that is about 10 percent below the competition.

As a result, the notebook market is "still a very strong four-player category right now," he said.

Solid-state rivalry sizzles: Toshiba ships 512GB SSD

Toshiba has begun volume shipments of solid-state drives ranging up to 512GB in size, as these hyper-fast storage options bulk up on capacity.

Drives are also offered in 64GB, 128GB,Toshiba Laptop Battery and 256GB capacities and are built on a 43-nanometer manufacturing process using multi-level cell (MLC) technology. MLC technology allows drive makers to increase capacity while keeping production costs under control.

All drives come in either a 1.8-inch enclosure, typically used in ultraportable laptops, or a 2.5-inch housing, the standard size for mainstream laptops.

Toshiba said in December that it would begin shipments of a 512GB drive this year. And this drive became available exclusively on Toshiba laptops in May.

SSDs typically offer higher performance--often much higher performance--than hard-disk drives and are more durable since they have no moving parts.

But SSDs are still hobbled by a distinct price disadvantage. Toshiba's own Web site offers vivid proof. A Toshiba Portege R600 laptop is priced at $2,099 with a 160GB hard disk drive. Adding a lower-capacity 128GB SSD hikes the price to $2,499.Toshiba Tecra 9000 Battery, Toshiba Tecra 9100 Battery, Toshiba Satellite 1900 Battery, Add the 512GB option and this goes to $3,499.

Back in December of last year, Toshiba said sample quantities ranged from $220 for the 64GB drive to $1,652 for the 512GB drive--though these prices have likely come down, Toshiba Tecra 9000 Battery, as the drives are now shipping commercially.

For businesses up-front pricing may be less important. Over the lifespan of an SSD total cost of ownership may be lower, according to Gregory Wong, president, Forward Insights. Potential savings are particularly relevant to business laptop users, said Wong. And Intel recently did some in-house testing that showed that failure rates of SSDs are lower than hard disk drives.

On the performance front, Toshiba said it is using an advanced controller chip that enables a maximum sequential read speed of 230 megabytes per second and maximum sequential write speed of 180 megabytes per second. These read-write speeds are typically many times that of a hard disk drive. Toshiba did not specify random read and write speeds, which are also critical benchmarks for everyday data access.

Intel has recently begun shipping a 160GB solid-state drive that offers improved random write performance. The chipmaker was able to get up to a 2.5X improvement over previous versions of its SSDs.

Toshiba is not alone in announcing commercial shipments of large-capacity SSDs. Micron Technology's Crucial Technology unit has begun selling 256GB drives listed at $599, which beats Toshiba pricing at that capacity.

Note: Intel has found a bug in the new SSDs cited above that affects users who set a BIOS drive password. Toshiba Tecra 9100 Battery, When disabling or changing the password followed by powering off/on the computer, the SSD becomes inoperable. The root cause has been identified and a fix is under validation. Intel expects to post an end-user firmware update to fix this bug in the coming weeks.

Toshiba notebook under $1,000
Toshiba is now shipping a raft of inexpensive notebooks, with one falling below $1,000, after it cut prices across the board.
This is taking place on the eve of Intel's announcement of the Pentium II processor for notebook PCs. This will spawn a wave of new high-end notebooks from all the major vendors and trigger more price cuts, as notebook manufacturers try to clear out aging Pentium models.

Toshiba's mini-notebook, rivaling the size of handheld computers, is now priced at $999. This had been selling for about $1,200. It weighs 1.85 pounds, less than half the weight of a standard notebook PC.

It comes with a 772MB hard drive, a 6.1-inch active-matrix LCD screen, a 75-MHz Intel Pentium processor, and the Windows 95 operating system.

The Libretto 70CT model with a 120-MHz Pentium processor with MMX technology and a 1.5GB hard drive has been reduced to $1,699 from about $1,950.

The standard line of Satellite Pro notebooks now sells for as little as $1,699.Toshiba Tecra 9000 Battery, Toshiba Tecra 9100 Battery, Toshiba Satellite 1900 Battery, It includes a 12.1-inch active-matrix display,Toshiba Satellite 1900 Battery,an Intel 133-MHz Pentium processor with MMX technology, and a 1.34GB hard drive, as well as a modem.

The higher-end Tecra starts at $1,499. The Tecra 520CDT and 530CDT feature 166-MHz Intel Pentium processors with MMX technology, a 12.1-inch active-matrix display, a 2.02GB removable hard drive, a modem, and a CD-ROM drive.

The Tecra 700 series also received price cuts up to 30 percent.
